Mango Sauce
Crazy about Bangkok
06.06.07: Mango Sauce Readers who've been admiring the Laotian rock rat for the past three weeks are probably wondering what's happened to me. Amongst other things, I've been pondering the future of this site.
Mango Sauce has welcomed literally millions of visitors over the years but, since Google AdSense pulled the plug, my once-healthy advertising income has dwindled to almost nothing. New advertisers have proved hard to find and, despite its enduring popularity, the site is commercially dead in the water.
Writing Mango Sauce has always been great fun but unless I pull my finger out and start earning some money, I'm going to end up sleeping in a dirt soi surrounded by scabby dogs and bottles of my own urine.

14.05.07: New species in Lao kebab inspires $1million prize
Identified for the very first time when served up to a hungry American naturalist on a skewer in 2005, a living specimen of the Laotian rock rat has now been photographed. Despite appearances, the creature - known locally as a kha-nyou - isn't a rat at all. Robert Timmins described his tasty new discovery as a "spineless porcupine."
At that stage, however, he'd never seen a live specimen so branding the enigmatic creature a coward might have been premature. For all we know, when ambushed by Laotian rice farmers brandishing sliced bell peppers and pineapple chunks, the bushy-tailed beast might have shown conspicuous bravery.

11.05.07: Jail for Thailand's YouTube fans
Fans of the banned YouTube video-sharing website will soon face "severe punishment" under a draconian new cyber-crime law. Anyone using a proxy server to visit a website censored by the Thai government could now end up in jail.
This criminalization of ordinary Internet users is just another symptom of Thailand's descent into authoritarianism.
02.05.07: Thaksin to buy Manchester City
Thailand's brief experiment with democracy seems to have ended badly but it remains to be seen which Premier League football club will be the ultimate beneficiary - Mango Sauce, 20 September 2006.
Step forward Manchester City.
Yesterday, former PM Thaksin announced the £130 million deal on his blog (www.hi-thaksin.net) alongside this "happy slapping" phonecam shot that appears to show him selecting a severed head for his lunchbox.
30.04.07: Mac attack: Westerner beaten in Bangkok Apple Store
When you order a MacBook Pro from an approved Thai dealer, you don't expect to be beaten-up and arrested in the store - but this is exactly what happened to an unfortunate Mango Sauce reader.
Last Friday, I placed an order for a MacBook Pro, a 30' display and accessories at The APPLE Store in Siam Discovery Center, Bangkok. The total came to 188,000bt. Paid with a VISA Card. The APPLE employee would deliver the setup later.
While waiting for the delivery at my condo, the APPLE salesperson, phoned me and claimed to have made a mistake on the bill and wanted another 12,500 before delivery.
28.04.07: Pattaya porn baron's eye-popping attorneys
Currently out on bail while Thai prosecutors decide his fate, Pattaya porno director John T. Bone has engaged the services of this impressive pair of ... ahem ... attorneys to help salvage his reputation.
T. Bone's latest legal move comes after pornstar Mike South (AKA Michael Strother, 48 - a former NASA space shuttle engineer) accused him of filming underage performers in his Thai transvestite movies - allegations that the elderly pornographer strongly denies.
25.04.07: Sex-offenders register for Thai coyote dancers
The Thai government's "War on Pretties" entered a new phase yesterday as top cops were ordered to keep tabs on shapely coyote dancers by adding their names to a new sex-offenders register. Clad only in their trademark crop-tops and hot pants, the leggy lovelies might now be hunted down in fast-paced chases reminiscent of The Benny Hill Show.
24.04.07: Pattaya girl's disarmingly sexy arse
Thai chicks packin heat. My American, white bred, republican ass is sporting the largest erection I've had in my life just thinking about it. - Common Sense
If Khun G were to lower her Von Dutch hot pants, Common Sense might find somewhere fitting to put it.
23.04.07: Thai girls with guns
A Thai bargirl's handbag always contains surprises but you don't expect to find a 9mm semi-automatic pistol.
The scene is a Patpong beer bar and, with the obligatory bargirl perched on my lap, I'm enjoying a quiet drink with a chum. When the conversation turned to Seung-Hui Cho and the Virginia Tech shootings, our bouncy new friend dropped the bombshell that she too was packing.
20.04.07: Miss Thailand Universe & my glass-top coffee table
Aimee Morakot walked away with the 2004 Miss Thailand Universe title but her huge floral underpants failed to impress judges at the international final.
Many commentators wrote her off as a pale-faced goody-goody but the resourceful Khun Aimee has confounded her critics with a sexy return to form. A sizzling photo-spread in FHM Magazine has now won her the coveted title of "29th sexiest woman in the world."
